A Visit from Daddy

We had the BEST weekend with Daddy. Taylor was over the moon and talked about his upcoming visit for days.

She made this darling poster. It took her several hours. She used paint, colored pencils, crayons and stickers. She also picked out those balloons. The excitement was so overwhelming that she fell asleep in the car.

It seemed took forever. Patience is hard for a little lady.

Taylor has been obsessed with camping and telling spooky stories. So I made a little family indoor camp adventure. We had a tent, our sleeping bags and a fire for roasting marshmallow and telling spooky stories. It was awesome!

This week for Dinner

It's been a while since I have done this post. I'm doing all of the cooking for my family while I am staying here. This is our menu for the upcoming week. { Please note: We had a massive ham for Easter thus the over use of ham through out the week}

Monday: Ham Fried Rice and wantons

Tuesday: Shredding Chicken Taco Salad

Wednesday: Ham and Asparagus Quiche with garden salad

Thursday: Linguine Pesto with Grilled shrimp and Scallops

Friday: Ham and Bean soup with crust bread and sharp cheese.

The Easter bunny brought books and outfits, candy and a delivery from Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Ernie. We had the best day and had a good belly ache to prove it.

Earth Day

What did you do to celebrate Earth Day? We planted a family tree in this funny green pot which we will transfer to our new home in San Fransisco.

If you didn't have a chance to celebrate this year you could get involved with a community garden. There is a lovely new garden being built in Sugarhouse.. (find here) or you can get involved in amazing green tec companies like Clean Power Finance.

A little of this a little of that

Last week I was in San Fransisco looking for wedding dresses with Allie and hunting for neighborhoods for the pending move. I took Cooper with me to see his Daddy and so that Auntie Caitlin didn't have her hands too full.

It was Coopers very first flight and he was ( of course) a dream... not even a peep. He just giggled and flirted with all the ladies on the plane. Typical, just like his dad.
A few dresses that didn't make the cut. I had to go rouge since we were told that I couldn't take pictures. I tried to be stealth with my phone so I got some odd shots. We had the most amazing day. My Mom, Aunt Pat, Allie and I had appointments all over San Fransisco. We had an amazing lunch she found the perfect dress. ( not pictured of course)

Taylor got a new hair cut yesterday. We finally cut off all of that NASTY long hair! I know some family was a little upset about the change but let me tell you her hair was so white trash. She loves her new look.

We have been missing Dusty like crazy around here. As hard as it can be for the three of us I can't imagine how hard it must be for him. ( or I can because he tells us all the time) In an effort to keep him in the team Dunaway loop. I have been taking pictures and videos like crazy. Here are the snips from yesterday.

I've been working on Taylor and Cooper sharing a room. The plan as been to move them into the same room when we move so I'm getting a head start. Not going so well...... With Taylor having the flu for three days and Cooper teething! Once those little problem are behind us we should be in good shape. I took this picture the first night I tried to merge them into the same room. They lasted a good 5 hours but Taylor spent the rest of that night over the toilet. Cross your fingers for next week!

Things I love ... and ( not so much love ) about Salt Lake

We have been in Salt Lake for a little over a week now. We settled in quickly and the kids are LOVING IT! I'm so lucky that they easily adjust to these big changes. Even with Taylor having another round of the flu and Cooper getting his first 3 teeth, they have been wonderful.

It only took a few days to remind me what I love... and not so much love about this city. Here are a few. I'm sure I'll be adding more over the next few weeks.

I LOVE: That it snowed the first night we were here

NOT SO MUCH: That it's still snowing... hello it's April! It's freaking freezing. My kids don't even own a coat!!

I LOVE: That my favorite high school radio station has not changed a bit. Still the same radio hosts and music

NOT SO MUCH LOVE: still the same music!!.... Although I love my 90s music it is a little ridiculous

I LOVE: Crown Burger.

NOT SO MUCH: How I feel after the Crown Burger

I LOVE: how fast my hair dries

NOT SO MUCH: How fast everything else dries out. Nails, Lips, Skin. Seriously I feel like I need to take a bath in Vaseline.

I LOVE: Connecting with old friends that I haven't seen in years

NOT SO MUCH: Connecting with people at the grocery store that I have chosen not to reconnect with for years.

I LOVE: the family friendly community

NOT SO MUCH: Utah's silly laws. Can we get wine in the grocery stores please? Making an extra trip to the super crowded liquor store drives me NUTS.

The kids, Lucy and I are all settled in Salt Lake City! I have to tell you, the drive was incredibly manageable. I had prepared for the worst. (and complained to a lot of people about the pending drive) but the time flew by and the kids were an absolute dream. We left the house at 3:30am watched to Sunrise over Vegas made three quick pit stops for snacks and potty breaks and made it to Salt Lake City at 4pm. The next morning we got the BEST surprise.

SNOW!!!

We were shockingly unprepared for snow. I don't even own a coat for Cooper. So we were off to Target to get equipped for the weather. I only have two pairs of shoes that are close toed!

After a wonderful dinner Dusty hoped on a plane and headed back to Westlake to finish packing up the house. We miss him so much already and we are counting the minutes until we see him for Easter.
