Fabric Covered Bulletin Board... a lovely craft

I love this new craft from Martha Stewart. I’m constantly looking for a new place to put our “ rotating pictures” You know… the pictures that family and friends send each year updating there children’s new look. We get scads of them: from graduation to yearly photo ops and birth announcements. Without a magnetic refrigerator where do you put them? Until recently I have been using a shadow box from Pottery Barn but his has become far to cumbersome. This is a great solution and I love the ability to customize the fabric and ribbon to a particular room or style. It’s the perfect solution for my little craft office too. A truly lovely place to tack my inspirations.

Tools and Materials
Large frame, new or from a tag sale 3/4-inch-thick Homasote Fiberboard ( basic bulletin board),
Cut to fit Fabric,Staple gun, Ribbon

Fabric-Covered Bulletin Board

1. Cut a piece of fabric 2 inches larger than the fiberboard on all sides; place face down on work surface. Center the board over the fabric. Wrap one side of the fabric to the back, and staple it to board, beginning with one staple in the middle of the side, 1 1/2 inches in from the edge.
2. Wrap fabric over opposite side, and staple directly opposite the first.Repeat by stapling the fabric in the center of the other two sides. Continue stapling, working out toward the corners, always adding staples in pairs on opposite sides of the board, ensuring fabric stretches evenly.
3. Place the covered board into the frame; secure with angle brackets at each corner. Attach D rings to the back of the frame at the top corners. Tie ends of ribbon to D rings, and hang.
